CAPD Statement on the U.S. Chamber Letter on Health Care Pricing Proposals

CAPD

Debra Barrett, Executive Director of the Coalition for Affordable Prescription Drugs, released the following statement on the U.S. Chamber Letter on Health Care Pricing Proposals:

As a coalition of employers and the PBMs they rely on, we agree with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that choice and flexibility are critical when designing the most affordable prescription drug benefit for employees. As the Chamber points out in their letter, policy proposals to address high drug prices should not “restrict options, undercut the ability of companies to innovate and eliminate contractual flexibility.” CAPD continues to advocate for polices that maintain choice for these purchasers and the consumers that rely on them for access to lower cost prescription drugs. Taking away this choice could have the exact opposite result as intended, making prescription drugs more expensive and more difficult to access for consumers.
