CAPD Statement on C-THRU Legislation
“Partnerships with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are one of the most effective private-sector tools employers, unions and government programs use to manage the cost of medicines for 266 million Americans. Requiring PBMs to make public confidential information they use to help drive down costs in their negotiations with manufacturers will not lower drug costs, and may in fact drive prices even higher.”
CAPD launched earlier this year to demonstrate that pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and their partners in the public and private sectors are providing comprehensive, private-market solutions to address rising drug costs, keep patients healthy, and deliver value to the health care system. PBMs and their partners provide sustainable access to the most effective and affordable prescription drugs.
