CAPD Statement on Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee Markup of Drug Pricing Bills

CAPD
We are encouraged to see today’s Congressional action to address our nation’s skyrocketing prescription drug prices and support greater access to affordable medicine for all Americans. The various bills being marked up by the House Energy & Commerce Health subcommittee this week represent a bipartisan effort to boost generic competition in the marketplace and bring an end to the gamesmanship we continue to see from big pharma year after year. By closing loopholes that allow brand manufacturers to extend their monopolies and keep prices artificially high, and by making the system more transparent without raising drug prices, Congress can help foster a marketplace that works for patients, purchasers and the health care system overall.
